Dear Parents-
We are praying for all of our second-grade students who will be making their First Communion this weekend. Congratulations to all of them. May their special day be blessed! We look forward to celebrating with all of them next Wednesday at school Mass. It is always a great time to reflect on our own First Communion and remember how special it was.
Our end of the year NWEA testing begins Monday, April 22nd. Thank you for doing your best to make sure your child is well rested. We appreciate it.
As we continue preparations for next year, we will be working on financial aid awards next week as well. All families that filled out a TADS application will hear from us soon. Early next week we meet with BA personnel to discuss our families that have children in both schools. Once this work is complete, we move on to the families with students just at DMCS. Many of you have already heard back from the Aim Higher Foundation. The Aim Higher awards will be considered as part of your aid package. As we look to refine our processes, we will be working to remind parents that financial assistance is an investment in our scholars and their families. Many generous givers have worked to provide funds for this purpose. There is an expectation of a child’s scholarly effort and school attendance from these benefactors. Please carefully read your financial aid letter when you receive it. Make sure to reach out with questions.
Thank you to all of you who have worked to complete the enrollment for your child/ren. Teachers will be offered work agreements and assigned positions once enrollment is completed. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Many parents worry about class placements for their child each year. Please read our class placement protocol very carefully to see what you can do if you want to give input into this process. It is attached to this newsletter.
May is just around the corner. We look forward to all the spring activities. Make sure your calendar is marked for 1st grade Mary Crowning Mass on May 1st and Grandparents’ Day and the Spring Concert on May 15th. Our end of the year pool party is on May 28th, and our last Mass and 5th grade celebration at DMCC is on May 29th. These special days are very much anticipated. We hope to see many of you as we celebrate the end of another successful school year.
Many Blessings-
Mrs. Ashley
