The Pastors' Tuesday Bible Study is starting a new unit this week: The Dangers of "Cherrypicking." Join Pastor Paul in the Sid Sowers Classroom at 2:00 pm on Tuesdays or via the Zoom link below. No preparation is necessary. We hope to see you there!

Thursday 4/18 at 7:30 AM:
Men's Fellowship Breakfast!

The men's fellowship breakfast meets on Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 AM in the youth activity area. The gathering takes place each first and third Thursday of the month and includes a discussion of a current local, national, or international issue and our Christian response. Participants volunteer to bring a continental breakfast for each meeting. For more information, please contact Don Eppert (336-768-6403).

Until further notice, the church office will be closed on Fridays. Staff will still be reachable by email during this time. The Pastors take Friday as Sabbath, so please refer to the Pastor On Call for any emergent pastoral care needs. Thank you!

In order to ensure that our facilities are secure, we keep our buildings locked throughout the week. On Sunday mornings, we open the main glass doors on 5th Street but keep other doors locked. You can use a key fob to enter through any locked door during the day during the week or on Sundays. Augsburg members can receive their own key fob by contacting the church office during regular business hours.

Augsburg is continuing The Backpack Program, and we need your help! We are collecting clean, dry, plastic grocery bags in a bin in the narthex! Thanks for your support.

Augsburg is collecting items for the Lowrance Treat Trolley! This is a snack cart that goes from class to class and the students have an opportunity to learn job skills as they market & "sell" their products. Donations of the following pre-packaged items are accepted:

Individually packaged bags of the following chips:

• Cheetos (original, not puffs)

• Funyuns

• Fritos (original flavor)

• Cool Ranch Doritos

• Ruffles (original)

• Lays (classic)

• Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn

• Skinnypop Popcorn (regular, white cheddar, and kettle corn varieties)

Individually packaged bags of the following snacks:

• Funables Fruity Snacks (available at Walmart)

The money collected from the sales of these snacks goes toward buying more supplies for Lowrance students. Donations may be Brought to the church office during the week or to the narthex on Sundays.

In January, Social Ministry hosted the potluck breakfast and presented several ways that Augsburg members could assist refugees as they settle into a new life. We learned about Lutheran Services Carolinas’ New Americans program (and their “Be the Light” campaign), the Good Neighbor Team at St.Paul’s helping families in the area resettle, greeNest’s Up Off the Floor program getting beds to children in conjunction with World Relief, and Global Mission’s work gathering “Fresh Change” bags for families and individuals coming into the US. You stepped up! Together we gathered and assembled 81 bags of basic clothing and undergarments that will go directly into the hands of these families! Thank YOU!

Wednesday 5/8 from 11 AM–1 PM:

Lowrance Teacher Appreciation Week Lunch! 

Augsburg will be serving lunch to the 70+ teachers & staff on Wednesday, May 8th at Lowrance from 11am-1pm. We need WSFCS-approved volunteers to serve on-site, but all can help with donations of food (a flocknote signup will be forthcoming). Contact Pastor Katie at katie@alcws.org if you can help either bring items or serve!

As we prepare to bid farewell to our organ, join us to celebrate the choirs and musicians who have been such a large part of our community. Wine reception to follow.

Register Now: Day Camp 2024!

Day Camp will be the week of June 10–14. Day Camp is open to all rising first graders–rising six graders. New this year, Day Camp will be hosted by Lutheran Church of the Epiphany (5220 Silas Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27106). All campers must be 5 by the first day of Day Camp. If you’re considering sending your child to Lutheridge, Lutherock, or Camp Agape-Kure Beach this summer, the Hine Fund can provide up to $200 per child for camp tuition. (This does not apply to Confirmation Camp – that’s coordinated separately.) Once you’ve registered and paid in full for your child to attend camp, please email a copy of your registration to hinefund@alcws.org. This registration should indicate the child’s name, the week(s) he/she is going to camp, and the amount you’ve paid to secure their spot. Once the Hine Fund secretary receives your information and it’s confirmed with NovusWay or Camp Agape that your child is going to summer camp, a
check will be mailed to you.

If for some reason you have to cancel, we do ask that you return the Hine Fund reimbursement to us so we can use it for another camper. If you have any questions, contact the Hine Fund Secretary at hinefund@alcws.org. The deadline to submit your reimbursement is June 30, 2024.

Fellowship Breakfast: Help Wanted! (New link!)
Your help is needed to continue Fellowship Breakfasts! We have heard from you how important it is to gather together for fellowship between services. This ministry continues to depend on you. Breakfasts can be as simple as coffee and juice. The Fellowship Team will be happy to show you where things are in the kitchen and how to make coffee.
