Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley: "Physician-assisted suicide is a slippery slope"

In an Op-Ed in the Boston Globe, Cardinal O'Malley said that "Physician-assisted suicide does not just contradict deeply held religious convictions, but also violates principles held by many in the health care community." He went on to urge the legislature to focus on providing quality palliative care.

Special PAX Christi Newton Event Next Weekend
Sunday, April 28, 4-5:30pm
Peter Metz of Pax Christi Newton and Mass Peace Action has just returned from a three-week trip to Japan, where he met with over a dozen A-bomb survivors, other anti-nuclear activists, and three Japanese Bishops allied with two American Bishops to spearhead a drive to build a world without nuclear weapons. He will talk about what he learned there, why it makes him more hopeful that the goal of eliminating nuclear weapons can be achieved, and what we can all do to end the culture of war. For this interactive event, please come to question, debate, and go away with hope and action plans. Slides and information about the Peace Museum there will also be shared. Sunday, April 28, 4-5:30pm, in Our Lady’s Lower Church Hall.
Honduras Coffee on Sale May 4-5
Coffee from our sister parish, San Marcos in Honduras, will be on sale the weekend of May 4-5 after all the Masses at Our Lady's. We keep hearing rave reviews of the coffee, so don't miss out! To order ahead please email barbara.allaire@gmail.com with your name, cell #, number of bags or whole bean or ground coffee you wish to order, and the Mass after which you will pick it up. - Diaper Drive: Weekends of April 27-28 and May 4-5, at Sacred Heart. We are collecting diapers size NB-7, in the upper church and in the lower church hallway, to benefit a city-wide diaper distribution organized by Newton Neighbors.
- Annual Ministers’ Evening of Appreciation: Save the date, Thursday, May 30, at Sacred Heart's MacKenzie Center. Details to follow.
