Dear brothers and sisters,

On this fourth Sunday of Easter, we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday. This Sunday's Gospel is only part of Jesus' great discourse on the shepherds. In this passage, the Lord tells us three things about the qualities of a good shepherd. First, the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep, the true shepherd is Christ, who has reflected on the Cross how he gives his life for his sheep. Second, he knows them and they know him, the Lord gets involved with us and lets himself be known by us. The true shepherd is the one who smells like the sheep, he is cold with them and is always aware of what happens to each one. Jesus Christ makes this present in our lives when he draws close to our suffering and our joys. He is always taking care of us and he is always present in our daily lives. The last thing, the good shepherd is at the service of unity. The good shepherd leads his sheep to good pastures so that they can lie down and rest. The Good Shepherd leaves no sheep astray. Christ loves us and is the Good Shepherd who comes to meet us day by day. Today let us find rest in the Eucharist which is a sign of giving life, loving and reaching heavenly pastures.

This weekend we will have a second collection to help the Archdiocese of Denver in the many ministries they carry out. In this Archdiocese we have been blessed with an Archbishop who truly acts as a good shepherd. I invite you to participate in this initiative to help so many people in need in the Archdiocese. Let's continue enjoying Easter following Christ as a good shepherd and helping those who are most in need.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,

En este cuarto Domingo de Pascua, celebramos el Domingo del Buen Pastor. El Evangelio de este Domingo es solamente una parte del gran discurso de Jesús sobre los pastores. En este pasaje, el Señor nos dice tres cosas sobre los pastores. Primero, da su vida por las ovejas, el verdadero pastor es Cristo, el cual ha dejado plasmado en la Cruz como él da la vida por sus ovejas. Segundo, las conoce y ellas lo conocen a él, el Señor se involucra en nuestra y se deja conocer por nosotros. El verdadero pastor es el que huele como las ovejas, pasa frío con ellas y está siempre pendiente de que le pasa a cada una. Jesucristo hace presente esto en nuestras vidas cuando se arrima a nuestros sufrimiento y a nuestras alegrías. El siempre está cuidando de nosotros y siempre está presente en nuestra vida cotidiana. La última cosa sobre el buen pastor es que Él está al servicio de la unidad. El buen pastor lleva a surebano junto hacia praderas buenas para que se recuesten y descansen. El Buen Pastor no deja a ninguna oveja descarriada. Cristo nos ama y es el Buen Pastor que viene a encontrarse con nosotros día a día. Encontremos hoy descanso en la Eucaristía que es signo de dar la vida, amando y llegando a praderas celestiales. 

En este tiempo Pascual el Señor viene como Buen Pastor. Este fin de semana tendremos una segunda colecta para ayudar a la Arquidiócesis de Denver en los numerosos ministerios que se llevan a cabo. En esta Arquidiócesis hemos sido bendecidos con un Arzobispo que actúa verdaderamente como buen pastor. Yo les invito a participar en esta iniciativa para ayudar a tanta gente necesitada en la Arquidiócesis. Continuemos disfrutando de la Pascua siguiendo a Cristo como buen pastor.
