A Few Do’s and Don’ts to Prevent Mass Confusion
A weekly series focusing on the Mass
What Should I Do When I First Enter the Church?
- Genuflect (literally, “bend the knee”) toward the tabernacle containing the Blessed Sacrament when you enter and leave a church, approach for communion, or otherwise pass before the tabernacle. (If you are unable to genuflect, don’t worry. God does not command the impossible.)
- Take holy water from the font and make the sign of the cross.
- Men remove their hats as a sign of respect.
- Silence your phone. Put it away unless you are using it to follow the liturgy.
- Kneel or sit for a few minutes of recollection to prepare for Mass.
- Greetings should be limited to a smile and perhaps a whispered, “Good morning!”
- Remember that others are trying to prepare themselves for Mass. This is not the time to chat.
- Try to maintain charity when others are talking before Mass. Many parishioners do not realize how loud and disruptive they are, and Mass may be their only social interaction of the week. Pray for them.

on the Feast of Corpus Christi, June 2nd 2024

Everyone is welcome! The procession is a 1/2-mile route around the Holy Cross neighborhood. Those unable to walk the route are welcome to join the group praying in the Church.
First Communion children and their parents will have a special place at the beginning of the procession. The children are invited to come dressed in their First Communion outfits. Please let Ginna know if you will be joining the procession. We will have a designated pew in the church for the children and their parents.

Cursillo
Cursillo is a worldwide lay movement within the Catholic Church, and its mission is exactly the same as the Church's - Evangelization. To help spread the Gospel and grow closer to our Lord by living out what it means to be a Christian everyday.
Cursillo is an opportunity to renew your relationship with Christ through this three day course in Christianity. The power, beauty and joy of the Cursillo weekend are found as we encounter Christ in ourselves and in each other.

The Diocesan Work Camp is a weeklong camp experience for high school youth to serve our brothers and sisters in need by making their homes safer, warmer, drier, and greener while also having the opportunity to grow in our Catholic faith.
Work Camp is not just a youth event. It is an opportunity for parishes to make a difference in the lives of those in need right here in our diocese while encouraging youth to answer their baptismal call to serve others. It is a transformative experience in the life of the adults who assist as well, whether as a volunteer, contractor, or chaperone.

Mother's Day Baby Shower
for the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center

The Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center is the result of a combined effort by Lynchburg-area Christians who were concerned by the lack of a "crisis center" that would provide a pro-life alternative to women with unplanned pregnancies. BRPC, as a non-profit ministry, is not affiliated with any congregation or denomination and relies upon the support of private donations and gifts, which are tax-deductible.
When? The weekends of April 27-28, May 4-5, May 11-12
Where? Place your donations in the collection Box in the Commons any of the three weekends. The Ladies of Charity will deliver your gifts to the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center.

2021 Jesse Tree Ministry
Elves Delivered! This past week Jesse Tree gifts, food, and even stockings for the younger children, were distributed to 77 households in our area. Families came from our parish community, as well as those referred to us by Interfaith Outreach Association, Lynchburg Social Services, Miriam’s House and McGurk House.
Thanks: Many thanks to all those who made the 2021 Jesse Tree Ministry a success!
We will resume distributing the monthly bags in the Commons the first weekend in February.
