“Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.”
(Mark 16:15)
As I reflect on my conversion, I realize it was not Mass, scriptures, or prayers (though they became essential in my life) that begun the turning of my heart towards Christ; it was my youth minister. She proclaimed the Gospel to me in very quiet ways, she saw and heard me, showed me love and care, and she was there for me when I felt very lost and far away. Through her actions she showed me the love of Christ. At the same time, I have experienced many people who do not proclaim the Gospel with their words and actions, instead they have turned many people away from the Lords love and goodness.
Through the sacraments we are being called to “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” Take a moment to reflect about your own words and actions. Not just to your group at church but at work, at the store, over the phone, your families, your friends, those you do not agree with, those who look/act differently than you. Let us use our words and actions to preach the Good News; to proclaim that we have a God who loves us and has given us the sacraments to sustain us.
Who can I proclaim the Gospel to in a new and loving way?
Lord, please give me the courage and strength to boldly proclaim your gospel to all you have put in my path. Amen.
