Dear Parents/Guardians,
Thank you to all the students who participated in our Augustus Tolton Pilgrimage this past Saturday! I thought it went very well and we received many compliments about your child(ren) on their openness and their engagement during the experience.
I know those who were not able to attend are working on alternate experiences. Thank you! I will try to point out more opportunities as they arise.
For now, I'd like to turn the focus of our preparation to the Faith in Action Service Projects. As I hope to have explained before, the expectation is to do one project in each of 3 categories - 1) care for the earth 2) service to those on the margins and 3) service to the church.
In each of the first two categories, I will provide an organized experience allowing students to do the project together. The first of these will be in May and in June, I will also organize opportunities in the Fall. A student does not need to go on all of the organized activities, just one from each category, or they can do an independent project in those areas so long as they coordinate it with me.
The third category, serving the church, can be done in a myriad of ways and is done independently. Altar serving, helping with Family Mass, volunteering at Wearin the Green, parish activities, etc. All of these qualify. There is an upcoming opportunity to serve at the Children's Garage Sale that qualifies for this project. Katie Kelly is helping on the organizing committee and is especially looking for Confirmation students to assist at any of the available time slots. Please click here, to find out times where help is need and to sign up!
More information about opportunities available for completing the Faith in Action projects is found below my signature and below photos from our pilgrimage this past Saturday.
Don't forget about the sponsor-candidate meeting which will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Blessings,
David Heimann
