Well, I blinked and it’s almost December! It is amazing just how quickly the year is flying by. This week, we worked on remembering our routines. Having a day off with a late start can really throw us!We started going through our alphabet again. We started with the Ss and glued string onto an S. For the Aa tomorrow, we will find animal pictures and glued them onto the A.We are really working on connecting the letter name to the sound it makes! Don’t worry if your child may not be grasping this yet or at the rate of the next child. Each child picks this up at a different rate. Right now, exposure to letters in their natural settings is the important thing!
Tomorrow is the day we check out our Home Connection books (the books in the plastic bags with the card with it.) Please make sure to send this with your child tomorrow if you haven’t already. When sending them back, please send the book, the card and the plastic sack!
If there is a late start, we will adjust our schedule and have snack in the afternoon. This way they will eat their lunch! Speaking of lunch, please do not bring fast food for your child, or yourself if you are eating with them, to school. It is a school policy. Thanks!
CHRISTMAS CONCERT:Our school Christmas Concert will be Wednesday, December 12 starting at 7pm. This will be held at the Washington Community Center. Please bring the kids to the back stage area between 6:45 and 7pm.After the preschoolers are done, we will dismiss them to the parents.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT PRACTICE:We will practice for the concert on Tuesday, December 11. The yellow bus will pick us up at 8:30 at the school and we will return by 9:30am. The kids always love riding the big yellow bus!
SNACK: The week of Thanksgiving, Misty brought snack! It was delicious! Thank you for the variety! This week, Yari brought snack. Tortilla pizzas were a hit! It’s amazing to see the kids make choices about what they want to eat and then to put it together. They decided that we could roll it like a tortilla roll up, a burrito or a taco. Next week, snack person is Christian Ortiz
STAR OF THE WEEK: The week of Thanksgiving, Shepherd was our Star.We got to talk about where we live because Shepherd lives in Richmond. He also wants to be a Dad when he grows up. Oh Shepherd, that is one hard but fulfilling job! This weeks Star of the week is Manny! Manny wants to be a firefighter when he grows up! Manny also shared with us that he can speak Spanish. He thought it was funny when I tried to repeat what he said.
Next week, our Star of the Week will be Greenlee Kitzman.
OUTSIDE PLAY: Playing outside is a very important part of our day.The kids need the fresh air and time to run around and play outside. We will go outside everyday unless the wind chill (feels like temperature) is below 15 degrees or the playground is too wet. Our scheduled outdoor time is about 11 to 11:30.Today, it took us 25 minutes to get all dressed and ready to go. We have been talking with the kids about needing 5 things to play in the snow. They need snow pants, snow boots, coat (that buttons or zips), gloves or mittens and a hat or hood that stays up.If your child does not have one of these things, they cannot play in the snow. We do have some extra gloves/mittens and hats but not many. Please make sure to send this clothing with your child so they can play in the snow.
GRADUATION: Yes, I’m looking ahead to MAY! It will be here before you know it! Just so you can get it on your calendars, graduation for the preschoolers will be on Thursday, May 23 at 10:30am. Mark your calendars!
HOME & SCHOOL MEETING: There will be a Home and School meeting Monday, December 3 at 6:30 in the conference room. This group is the parent group of St. James. It is a great group to work with and to help better our school. I personally invite you to attend the meeting. I will be there! We have a lot of fun and still accomplish all that we need to. And, we keep the meetings to an hour! Short, sweet and to the point! I hope to see you there!
