Just a note to inform you that there has been a case of head lice found in our classroom. Head lice is easy to catch and hard to get rid of. It is by NO MEANS judge on cleanliness or parenting skills. Both of my girls have had it and let me tell you...I was a "Getting rid of lice FOOL!" My poor girls!
Please check your child's hair for evidence of lice. This can include silver/white eggs close to the scalp or live bugs that like to hide from the light so they will often be found at the nape of the neck or behind the ears.
If you find lice, please treat your child before having them return to school. There are many over the counter shampoos to use to kill the live bugs. However, the biggest thing is making sure to pull the nits (eggs) out of the hair.
At school, we are washing all of the dress up clothing and pillow covers. We also vacuum daily. We do not encourage children to share hats and to bring their own from home.
Thank you for your help in controlling this menacing bug.
Miss Sonya
