8th Grade Basketball and Cheer Recognition Night.
Thank you, athletes, for all the hard work and dedication you have brought throughout the years representing St. Nicholas. We wish you all the best of luck in your future athletic and educational endeavors.
What an exciting week it has been! The permanent roof and insulation was started on Monday. Unfortunately the wind on Tuesday was a setback, but the roof will be 1/3 of the way complete by this afternoon.
We have completed our first full week back to school after Christmas break and it seems everyone is back in the routine.
For two days this week, I attended the Archdiocese "Framing a Catholic Response: Sexual Identity Conference" where we listened to several well-known speakers and had interesting group conversations. The biggest message I came away with is that everyone is created by God and should be respected as such. The best thing we can do is listen to their story and help them find the truth in Jesus Christ. No two students (people) are alike and everyone has a unique story. Please know that I am here to listen to that story and willing to do whatever I can to help each person develop their relationship with Jesus.
Just a reminder - on gym days, STUDENTS MUST WEAR GYM SHOES for PE class. Students cannot participate in gym class without them. If students repeatedly choose not to have gym shoes, Mr. Stonebraker will be forced to give consequences.
Mrs. Krissy Moore has been volunteering as our art teacher for most of last year and this year. Shortly after the start of the year, their family dynamic changed with the blessing of two small children. This, along with some other factors, makes it difficult for her to always be here on Thursday for art class. If you, or anyone you know, likes art and would like to help out on Thursdays, please let me know. Mrs Moore will come as often as she can, but we would like another person scheduled just in case she cannot. She will continue providing lesson plans for the day.
Please send in your contribution to the class baskets as soon as possible. We hope you can join us at the dance on February 2nd as well! Besides dinner and music, there will be a silent auction, tip boards, pull tabs and other fun events. All proceeds go toward Phase 2 - a new gym and cafeteria, which as you know, we desperately need :) Round up a group of friends and join us for a fun night!
Just a heads-up...I will be with the 7th & 8th grade next Thursday and Friday in Washington for the March for Life. I will try to check email a much a possible, but not sure exactly when that will be. Please pray for a safe and successful trip/March.
Snow is predicted this weekend - stay safe and enjoy. I hope you each get time to make a snow angel!
