Why was Jesus baptized?
If baptism cleanses us of sin and makes us children of God, why would Jesus get baptized? He was already the Father's sinless Son.
According to Pope Benedict, it was His first step to the Cross.This interesting article explains that Jesus' baptism was actually the first part of His plan to deliver us from sin and open heaven for us.
