Dear Parents
We are one week away from celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation - Wednesday, January 16, 2019! I really enjoyed the last class with all our students and talking to with them as they get ready for Confirmation!
Mandatory Rehearsal:
The next step is the rehearsal which will be held this Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 2:00pm. (This is the correct time. I heard some people suggest that it was at another time, but it is in fact at 2:00pm.)
I am asking for candidates and sponsors to attend this rehearsal which should last around 1 hour. If the sponsor cannot attend, I am asking for another responsible adult to stand in for the sponsor during the rehearsal.
Mass Time:
Next, I need to let you know about a slight change in the schedule for next week. Bishop Bartosic has asked to meet with those being confirmed before the Confirmation Mass. The Mass is at 6:30pm and I usually ask for candidates to arrive a half hour before. Since Bishop Bartosic has requested time to speak to the candidates, I am asking that candidates arrive by 5:50pm in the chapel.
Parents and sponsors may also come to this brief talk if they wish, but I will need sponsors seated in the church by 6:15pm.
Seating Tips:
In regards to seating in the church. Candidates and Sponsors will have reserved seating and parents and family members can sit in any of the remaining seats. The church will open at 5:45pm.
Photographs?
During the Rite of Confirmation, you will be able to come to the side aisle of the church to take photographs of your child’s Confirmation.
Attire:
And finally, as a reminder, the dress code for the Mass is business formal. I like to instruct students to think “What you wear if you were to receive an award from the Governor?” That should guide the attire they wear.
If there are any questions, do not hesitate to ask. Your child(ren) are really great and they’ve done a lot to prepare for this moment. I’m really proud of them.
God bless,
David Heimann
