The following is from the U.S. Conference of Bishops (www.usccb.org) regarding this important campaign for the respect of human life.WASHINGTON—On January 14, 2019, thousands of Catholics across the country will join in prayer for “9 Days for Life.” The prayer campaign, sponsored by the Committee on Pro Life Activities of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, leads up to the annual Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. The novena and day of prayer are a time of recollection and reparation in observation of the anniversary of Roe v. Wade—the Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal throughout the United States.
The overarching intention of the novena is that all human life will be respected. Each day of the “9 Days for Life” novena highlights a related topic and provides a reflection, educational information, and suggested daily actions.
Participants can subscribe to receive the daily prayers at

WHERE: For additional information and updates on ways to get involved, please visit

Please consider taking part - even if it is just a moment of silent prayer each day. As Bishop O'Connell said in a recent press release, "There is one thing we all have in common, my brothers and sisters. Regardless of our race or place of natural origin; regardless of our religion or absence of it; regardless of our age or status or station in life: God gave us the gift of life which our mothers carried until the day of our birth. We were allowed to live! Every human being who has ever walked the face of this earth shares that one thing in common. And from the moment of our conception until the day of our natural death, we celebrate with gratitude our God-given right to life. Nothing is more fundamental and more precious than that one basic human right."
There will be a
Mass for Life at St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral in Freehold on Thursday, January 17 at 7 AM for the Diocese as a “send-off” for those going to the March in Washington D.C. and especially for anyone who cannot attend the March but wants to pray together for life/protection of the unborn. There will also be a Mass for Life at the St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral in Trenton on Tuesday, January 22 at 9:30 AM prior to the “Rally for Life” at the Trenton State House.
