    In Sunday’s gospel reading Luke gives us his version of the “Beatitudes.” According to Luke, Jesus’ teaching is pointed and direct. Jesus tells the disciples how blessed are the poor, the hungry, the sad and the persecuted, for their reward awaits them in the kingdom of heaven. Luke is writing for a community struggling for survival at a time of Christian persecution. Jesus’ sermon brings great promise and hope to those who are going through trials. The idea of future blessedness offers reassurance and hope. Even for followers of Christ today, the Beatitudes promise blessings that more than compensate for present sufferings.

Bishop Danny has asked the members of our parish to review Pope Francis’ letter to the U.S. Bishops on the topic of immigration. The letter is available on the St. Angela Merici webpage as well as in hard copy in the vestibule and library.

Were you baptized as an infant or child but never celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation? St. Angela Merici Parish is excited to announce the beginning of sessions on the journey to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with Bishop Danny during the Easter Season.

St. Angela Merici presents a six-week program, Mondays, March 10 - April 14th, for those who seek a deeper understanding of what it means to be Catholic in today's world.

Serra Ministry Conference is March 14-15. Lay people in ministry and those interested in ministry are encouraged to attend.

Fr. Peter has issued our parish a challenge - everyone loves a good challenge! He wants the Parish Family of Saint Angela Merici to be the parish with the largest number of ministers present at the Serra Ministry Conference that is being held on March 14th and 15th at Sacred Heart Parish in Salinas - especially on March 15th - a day planned with lay ministry in mind.

The sessions offered on March 15th include:
"Here I Am Lord: Send Me as your Sacred Witness" - Something we can all learn from.
"Art & Liturgy: the Splendor of Faith" - GREAT if you're interested in Liturgical Environment
"4 Secrets of the Spirituality of Self Care" - Applicable to all ministries!
"Liturgy embracing Grace: Sharing Hope."
