Last week we began our Buildings project! The kids have been working hard in the dramatic play area with the tools and building in the blocks. They are working to figure out how to follow “blue prints” and build structures. One of the great things that can be done with blocks is to build and knock them down. While this is fun, not everyone wants his or her structure knocked down. This week, we will read a book called “Rex Wrecks It!” by Ben Clanton. It is a great book about being respectful of others and having fun in blocks.Learning to get along with others is one of the skills that we work on a lot in preschool!
We did not have library on Thursday or check out books on Friday from the Home Connections Library. We will resume that this week!
Last week was plagued with illness! By Friday, we only had ½ of our students in preschool! Today, I will continue with sanitizing surfaces and trying to air out the classroom and rid it of this bug. As stated in the Knightly News, “Please remember to keep your child home if you see signs of illness! Please follow the guidelines outlined on p. 11 in the Parent/Student Handbook, which may be found at
https://www.stjameswashington.org regarding sending children to school. The important thing is to NOT send a child back to school before they are completely recovered. The 24-hour rule is the best to follow (24 hours free from fever, fever reducing medication, diarrhea or vomiting or 24 hours on a prescribed antibiotic.)” Let’s work together to stop this bug! I am hoping that a 3-day weekend will help!
READ IT AGAIN: This week we read “The Biggest Snowman Ever” by Steven Kroll. The kids were quick to remember the characters of the story from other stories we have read like, “The Biggest Apple Ever”, “The Biggest Pumpkin Ever” and “The Biggest Christmas Tree Ever”. We also worked on identifying upper and lower case letters and learning new words like imagine and try.
SNACK: Aden and family were the snack helpers this week. The fresh pineapple was a HIT! I even had one of the kids say it was his favorite! Fresh fruit this time of year is always refreshing! This week’s snack family will be Paxton!
STAR OF THE WEEK: Ymbrace is our Star of the Week this week! Ymbrace wants to be a nurse or a doctor when she grows up and she LOVES fish! This week, Hinckley Tryon is our Star of the Week.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY: We had 3 birthdays to celebrate last week. On Tuesday, we celebrated Hinckley turning 5 on Wednesday. The cupcakes were delicious! Due to illness, we will celebrate Harper’s ½ birthday and Addison’s 5th birthday this week! We certainly hope they all had a great time!
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK:Catholic Schools Week is quickly approaching! This is our time to showcase all of the wonderful things about Catholic Schools! You will see the theme of each day below! Friday of CSW is a super fun (and crazy) day for us. It is our Special Guest Day! Each child is able to invite a special guest into our room for some fun activities and a special lunch!
