The construction of the new Hyland Center continues to progress well. We are having a very wet winter, but the contractors are working hard to finish the building for the fall of 2019.
The concrete slab and foundation walls are complete. The contractors are removing the last bit of formwork and have started installing the steel columns and beams. Last week, the contractors used two 165 ton cranes to set into place the 70,000 pound main beam. This beam will be exposed, with the gymnasium ceiling resting on it, as pictured in the rendering below.
