The Gospel this weekend comes from Luke 6:17, 20-26 and is known as the Sermon on the Plain (as opposed to the Sermon on the Mount, Mt. 5:1-12) because Jesus gave it when he was teaching on the Plain or open field.
In this passage Jesus addresses 4 "Blessings" (or Beatitudes) and 4 "Woes". Some times it's easy to get into the rut of thinking "woe is me" and forget we really are a Eucharistic people (a people of thanksgiving) b/c we have so much to be thankful for; we are so Blessed...can you think of 4 things right now (off the top of your head) that you are thankful for? Offer up 1 Hail Mary for each of those 4 things ~ remember what Jesus tells us this coming weekend..."Blessed are you"!!!
