Diocesan Public Policy Weekend
This Sunday our Parish will be gathering petition signatures for the annual diocesan-wide Public Policy Weekend. We'll be advocating for basic labor rights for farmworkers. The people who mile cows, tend animals, and harvest fruits and vegetables in New York State are excluded from workplace rights that virtually all other workers in our state have already. See the attached files for more information on the bill we are asking our elected officials to support, called the Farmworkers Fair Labor Practices Act and the issues facing many people in our community. We will have petitions to sign after both Masses this weekend if you wish to support the rights and dignity of farmworkers throughout New York.
