Hello Kindergarten families,
I want to start by thanking everyone who joined us for Special Guest day and the Valentine's party this week!
We have been learning the following in our different subject areas this week:
Reading- Kindergarten has been working hard on their sight words and are up to having 31 sight words on our word wall! They are learning two words a day and have been working hard in learning these everyday! Come in and check out our growing word wall!
Math- We are coming close to the end of our subtraction chapter! The students have been great about remember their strategies after all of the weather consistencies.
Things to know:
- I’d like to continue to help our students further develop their independence. The first step towards this is asking that parents drop their children off in the lobby in the mornings rather than walk them down to the kindergarten classroom. Your child will then proceed to the classroom with his/her classmates when dismissed to do so by the adult on lobby duty. Thank you, in advance, for partnering with me as we help your child grow.
- On Monday, February 18th, Kindergarten will be joining 3 year old and 4 year old preschool in seeing a ventriloquist and his talking dog. Mrs. C was very generous in including us in this special program!
- Family Night is coming up! Family Night will be on Thursday, February 28th and will include a free will donation. Dinner will be from 5:00-5:45 and classroom make and take sessions will be from 5:30-7:00! A reservation sheet was sent home last week so we are able to get an idea of how much food we will need. The reservations deadline is February 21st. If you need a new sheet feel free to let me know.
- Kindergarten has reached over 100 PBIS tickets meaning as a whole class different staff members in the building have caught them being respectful, responsible and safe! Kindergarten is the first class in the school to reach 100 whole class tickets! You can see the whole class ticket board and see how the whole school is doing by looking at the bulletin board by the lobby! Each picture represents a new month! I had promised the students that we would have a pizza party to celebrate them reaching 100 tickets. We will be having our pizza party at the end of this month! I am beyond proud of how responsible, respectful and safe these students are! They are a great group of role models for other classes in the school!
Let's hope that this weather ends soon and we will have consistency in our weeks! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at any time!
