Hello, Everyone!
Can you believe it? We've had a full week of preschool!?
The week began with an adventure: Traveling via school bus to the United Presbyterian Home.
It was ...sort of fun, to see & hear Todd Oliver & his talking dog on Monday.
The dinning room at the UP Home was filled with "The Young & The Restless" - 105 children. In addition, supervising grown-ups and UP Home residents were part of the audience. The children were seated in the front of the room. Unfortunately speakers were right there, too...making the performance a bit loud for preschoolers. The noise level made a few of our preschoolers afraid...but all was well once the bus headed back to school!
This outing was made possible by the Washington Concert Association! Thank you!
The rest of the week kept us busy learning about teeth.
Each child was challenged to cut bristles on a BIG toothbrush. Almost everyone had a chance to write his/her name onto the creation.
We heard a story about "Going to the Dentist". There was just enough time yo learn a tooth care Rhyme (it's on the BIG toothbrush!).
Henry shared the coolest surprise on Friday! His mom, Kim, brought a one month old lamb (Wiggles) into the classroom! Wiggles was orphaned & had to be fed every
2 hours when he was first born! We were able to see Wiggles slurp down a bottle of milk. - Everyone had a chance to pet him & feel his soft coat (wool).
And wiggles had a little "accident" onto his towel. That elicited a few giggles.
It was interesting to see 16 small chefs roll up their sleeves to prepare their own snack today! Thank you everyone for sending a fruit or veggie to school! Fruit appeared to be a favorite. A lone Zuchini & a few tomatoes ( well, that's a fruit, too!) were the only vegetables brought.
After cutting Apples, Oranges, Kiwi, Bananas & adding Raspberries, children took turns mixing the fruit to make a salad. Curriously several indicated the didn't like their Oranges & Raspberries & the other fruit together!
"Game On" forms were sent home!
It's an invitation to be part of the St.James Family Night on
February 28th,from 5 -7:30p.m. A dinner of Hungry, Hungry Hot Dogs with several delicious sides will be served for a free will donation. If you want to be part of an evening playing board games with students & family members of St.James be sure you turn your reservations in!!
Thank you for all the snacks brought this week!
