New school hours begin on Monday when we return from spring break. Breakfast will be served beginning at 7:30 AM and students will enter the building at 7:45 AM. Mrs. Conlon will send an email and text reminder on Sunday night, March 24th!

Help Wanted
Mrs. Miller-Smith has been working on some amazing vision boards to help enhance various areas of our building. We are looking to start on the first floor hallway in April and May (looking at some Saturday options) but adding some visual items to the hallway by the library, sprucing up the bathroom areas and then adding a sensory wall by the gym. We would love any and all helpers who would love to help see this vision come to life. You do not need to be an expert painter, many things will be stenciled and you would be painting between the lines. Please let Mrs. Conlon know if you are interested in helping out: aconlon@stmatthewcr.org.

Just a reminder the STO deadline is coming quickly on April 15th, 2019. We will begin reaching out to those of you who completed the STO in the past and have not started an application. Additionally, if you are missing some information, we will also be in contact to make sure we help you through the process. We are here to help and happy to schedule a time for us to sit down and provide assistance. Please just let Mrs. Conlon know what time works best for you!

Thanks to all the families who come to our AirFX fundraiser night...we raised $275 for our school! Thank you to AirFX for this great fundraising opportunity!

National Anthem at the Kernel's Game - Who Is In?
St. Matthew Elementary has been invited to perform the National Anthem at the Kernels game on Sunday, May 5 at 2:05 p.m. at St. Matthew Day at the Kernels! Mrs. Williams is inviting all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to sing with us. If your student is interested in singing they and an adult would need to purchase a ticket (paper will come home separately for this) for $10.00 each. Students would need to arrive at the Kernels’ Stadium by 1:15. If your student is interested please either sign up online at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0d44aeaa2fa6f49-star or email awilliams@stmatthewcr.org. Rehearsals will start after Spring Break.

These 5th graders--Alison, Winnie and Camryn--played with the Bulldogs this winter and had a great season!
Annabell’s hockey team - The Maidens of Mayhem - won the 10U division at the March Meltdown tournament in Bloomington, IL March 8-10!
Transportation Reimbursement Reminders
Second semester non-public transportation reimbursement forms for the area school districts are due May 1st. Click the district in which you live to find the form you need to submit. Knight of Columbus 909 Fish Fry
Every Friday Night During Lent – Starting March 8th
Public is always welcome, invite your family & friends! Raffles will be offered with cash and non-cash prizes. Dinner is served from 5:30 - 8:00pm $12 – Adult All You Can Eat Fish Dinner
$10 - Seniors (65 and older) All You Can Eat Fish Dinner
$6.00 - Children (up to age 12) - All You Can Eat Fish Dinner
$6.00 - Grilled Cheese Dinner -Ages 4 and under free
All dinners include: a baked potato or French fries, coleslaw, roll, dessert, coffee, milk or water (other drink options available with an additional charge). All proceeds benefit Knights of Columbus Council 909 charitable causes.

This includes both literacy and math, along with a few other options depending on grade level. Please highly consider this opportunity as it is a great way to keep students engaged and help reduce the summer slump and it compliments the workbooks we use throughout the school year!

I have loved the support and growth I have experienced in all facets. The faculty and staff have always been amazing individuals who work hard because they love teaching and love the students, and have always been exemplary models of our faith. St. Matthew is only as strong as its core group of supporters, and I want to do what I can to make a difference in the lives of families and friends. Once a Jaguar, always a Jaguar!

Regis Middle School After School Bus Driver Needed
Do you enjoy driving and want to work a few hours a week? Regis is currently seeking a part-time bus driver for after-school activities. Driving time is variable and will be in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area with occasional trips to Iowa City/Coralville. This position also would include some hours each month for maintaining the buses. Potential drivers should have a valid Class CDL license with passenger and air brake endorsements. If interested please contact Tracie Chute at tchute@regisroyals.org.

The LaSalle-Regis-Xavier Alumni Association and Xavier Foundation are celebrating our Catholic high school heritage by offering vintage-inspired designs in a special apparel store! Each school represents the proud lineage of the Catholic high school tradition in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area. Proceeds from each purchase will support the Alumni Association. The online vintage store is currently open and will close at 5:00 p.m. (CST) on March 17th. You can order items with logos from Immaculate Conception, LaSalle, Regis, St. Patrick and St. Wenceslaus Schools. Orders are expected to be fulfilled mid-April 2019.

Girls Bulldogs Basketball Skills Camps for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade
The Bulldogs girls’ basketball organization is to serve as a development program for Xavier High School. We will be offering a series of FREE Future Bulldogs Clinics to be held for the younger (1 st/2nd/3rd grade) girls to teach some basketball skills and drills; and to get them introduced to the Bulldog program. This year's event theme is ROCK THE BLEACHERS! All proceeds from this casual, adults-only evening of food, drink, games, raffles and silent and live auctions will go toward updating the gymnasium bleachers, which are original to when Regis High School opened. Tickets may be purchased by contacting Regis at 319-363-1968. If you'd like to make a monetary donation, donate an item for the auctions, or if you have an interest in purchasing a portion of the current wood bleachers please contact Dianne Clarke at dclarke@regisroyals.org or 319-363-1968. Message from the Principal
Have a great spring break! I hope you are all able to enjoy a few extra hours with your family during this week. When we return, we will begin our last quarter of school and have lots of things to accomplish. Essentials Team Highlight
In the Art room we are starting to work on a great routine again! We are starting some bright spring themed artwork in all grades. We are also starting a great big K-5 group project! We are making a large 3-D art sculpture chandelier for our school! We have started painting our recycled plastic water bottles and will be continuing to do that for a bit before we cut and build! We are still looking for lots of bottles if you want to send them in for us instead of putting them in your recycling bins! --Mrs. Miller Smith
