Hello, Everyone!
Isn't it wonderful to see & feel the sun? We hope the snow melts quickly so we can spend some time outside soon!
We did learn about air & wind today! Wind is air on the move!
Fun fact: air is all around us, even we can't see it. We proved it by turning a glass upside down, pushing it straight into the water & trapping air inside it.
When the glass was turned onto it's side we saw bubbles of air escape - the glass filled up with water!
Another thing learned: Air can push! A glass was filled to it's top with water. A piece of cardboard was held over the top of the glass...the glass was turned upside down (over a bowl!). I took my hand off the cardboard...the water did what? (ask your child.)
The air beneath the cardboard weighs more than the water in the glass, holding the cardboard in place,; the water...?
Ellie Anderson , a 9th grader who is job shadowing , tried twice , but the experiment didn't work. Make sure you have a bowl under the glass before you try this - just in case!
Air can move and air can push! Wind is moving air!
As air warm air rises, cold air moves in this space. The movement we feel is the wind!
Every year the Lion's Club in conjunction with the U of I Children's Hospital offers
a free eye check !
In order for children to get an eye check , a consent form must be filled out & returned to school! My apologies! I did not send home the form.
Do you want your child's eyes checked?
A consent form was sent home in everyone's back pack.
Please, fill out & sign the form & return it by March 15th!
The eye check will happen after Spring Break on March 25! Thank you!
Four parents attended conferences last Thursday evening. Thank you!
The next night for Parent/Teacher Conferences is Tuesday, March 12th.
Becky will be glad to reserve a time between 4 and 8 p.m., so you can learn about your child's accomplishments or needs. Thank you!
