Rube Goldberg Competition
For the first time in school history, St. Nicholas School participated in the Regional Rube Goldberg Machine competition held on Saturday, March 9th at Jac-Cen-Del High School. The team came away with the Judge's Award. The Judge's Award is given to one team in each division who demonstrate creativity, teamwork, and most importantly, Rube Goldberg's never give-up attitude. St. Nicholas was in Division 1 with seven other local elementary/middle schools. Special thanks to Fr. Whittington for sponsoring our team.
More information about Rube...
Last Friday, each class got to see the team in action as they presented their machines to the school. I had several students ask how they can be part of the team next year. The St. Nicholas team is for students in grades 6 - 8 and there is limited space. We found this year that 6 - 8 members is best. The ideal team member needs following qualities: self-motivated, creative, problem solver, dedicated, hard working, works well under pressure, good team player, and grit. Assuming we have a team next year, students can apply to be part of the team in November. Applicants will tell why they want to be on the team and a parent and teacher will need to give their support. More details will be available next school year.
Again, congratulations to our 2019 Rube Goldberg team for representing St. Nicholas. We are proud of you!
