MARY MAGDALENE AND JESUS
Through The Lens Of Medieval Spirituality and Art with Fr. Steve McMichael
Thursday, March 21, 6:30–8:30 pm, Room 211Enrich your faith by examining the faith of Mary Magdalene. This class, presented by Fr. Steve McMichael, will include a brief view of Mary Magdalene and how each age saw her differently. Through the lens of art and spirituality, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your own view of Mary Magdalene. The evening will include reflections of Mary Magdalene’s own faith, including her encounter with the Risen Christ on Easter Sunday, her presence with the Virgin Mary during the Easter Triduum, and why Mary Magdalene matters in Easter theology. Fr. McMichael regularly presides at Masses, funerals, weddings, and other sacraments at Pax Christi, and is an Associate Professor in the Theology Department at the University of Saint Thomas. He is currently researching and writing on the topic of the resurrection of Jesus in late medieval Franciscan theology, spirituality, and preaching. He has just published a book entitled,
The Glory of Paradise: Risen Life in the Easter Octave Sermons of Bernardino da Siena.
