I am sorry that it has been a while since I have updated everyone! I hope everyone had a great Spring break! It is beginning to feel more like Spring out there!
We have been learning the following in our different content areas this week!
Reading- Kindergarten has been working hard to grow their word wall and their personal sight word rainbows! They are tested every Friday to see the progress they are making on obtaining their sight words! In small group reading with Mrs. Clarahan and Mrs. Moeller this week are working on new concepts. In Mrs. Clarahan's group they are working on phoneme segmenting. In Mrs. Moeller's group, they are working on blends and digraphs in words! In my group, we are working on r-controlled vowels! In whole group reading, we are working on identifying cause and effect in stories, pausing at punctuation for fluency, and verbs in the past tense.
Math- We are working on numbers 11-19. We are coming to an end of this chapter!
Science- We are getting a chance to work with materials and motion. We started talking before spring break about different types of woods. We even got a chance to explore blocks that came from trees and even some that were man-made! We were able to identify different items in the classroom that were made from wood!
Just a couple of reminders:- While we are glad that it is finally Spring, please still send your student with coats, hands and gloves as St. James' weather policy is that students are to wear all three if the feels like temperature is under 45 degrees. The mornings can still be chilly and we want to make sure our students stay healthy.
- Kindergarten will be getting out at 11:30 am on Thursday, March 28th due to Kindergarten Round-Up. If you have a student who is in 3 year old preschool you are more than welcome to pick up your kindergartener at the same time!
- Wednesday, April 10th will be an early out. Students will be released at 12:55.
- Thursday, April 18th is also an early out for Easter break. There will be no school on Friday, April 19th.
- Monday, April 22nd was originally a no school day but will be used as a snow make up day so students are expected to be in school that day.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at anytime! Have a great week!
Thanks,
Nikki Sines
