Blessing of the Easter Eggs
Do you know about the tradition of the blessing of the Easter Eggs? The custom of blessing food for Easter arose from the discipline of fasting throughout Lent and the special Easter fast during the Easter Triduum. Easter was the first day when meat, eggs, and other foods could again be eaten. Although not of obligation, the special fast during the Triduum may still be observed as well as the tradition of blessing food for the first meal of Easter. According to custom, food may be blessed before or after the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday or on Easter morning for consumption at the first meal of Easter, when fasting is ended and the Church is filled with joy. Easter Sunday morning before the 9:00 am Mass, bring your dyed Easter eggs in a basket to the right of the altar. Before Mass ends, Monsignor Golden will call anyone who brought Easter eggs to retrieve their basket and have the Eggs blessed. Hand the blessed Eggs out to parishioners on the Cathedral plaza. Be sure to take a Blessed egg or two home, and share a part of it with all your guests at your Easter meal!

Stuart Circle Palm Sunday Procession
April 14 | 9:30am
Join other Cathedral parishioners and other churches in a Palm Sunday procession. The procession starts at Grace Covenant Presbyterian near Stuart Circle, will process to different Stuart Circle churches, and end at the Cathedral. Families, this is a wonderful opportunity to participate as we do not have formation on Palm Sunday (but we will have choir practice - so choir families we will miss you). See you there!
THE PROCESSION WILL TAKE PLACE, RAIN OR SHINE. IN THE EVENT OF SEVERE WEATHER, IT WILL LIKELY BE CANCELLED.

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP REMINDER:
Meeting this Sunday, April 14th after the 11:00am Palm Sunday Mass in the Parish Hall. (Mass might get out a little late). Pickup is @ 1:30p!
Choir practice resumes and will meet on Sunday the 14 at 10:05a in the Parish Offices! A special Saturday practice is scheduled for Saturday, April 20 11:30 to 12:15. Call time is 8:15am for the 9:00am Easter Mass on Sunday, April 21st.

Service Opportunity
An upcoming service opportunity for Middle & High School Youth is May 12, for the VCU Baccalaureate Mass. We will need help in our (new!) kitchen in providing hospitality for the reception for this Mass. Come help prepare food, setup tables, and providing a wonderful reception for VCU grads!
