Let’s Face It!
But the LORD is with me, like a mighty champion: my persecutors will stumble, they will not triumph. (Jeremiah 20:11)
The mission of Jesus, and of other prophets in Israel, is to speak the TRUTH. The truth sometimes can hurt. That is why they were rejected. When the truth makes us face our own failures and inadequacies, the easiest way to escape our responsibilities and the need to change is to ignore or deny the truth. For instant, when a teacher informs irresponsible parents that their child has an academic performance and behavior problem in school, that evaluation is a judgment of the parents as well as the child. Rather than face their own failure and the need to do something about the child, the parents take the easy way out and refuse to accept the teacher's report. The truth can hurt, even the truth preached by Jesus. The truth of Jesus demands that we be different from others; it requires that we accept suffering and self-denial, and that we abandon our selfishness to be generous in our love and service of others. In the end the truth will set us free during rejection and persecution. Let’s face it! Don’t fake it! With God we will triumph because He is our mighty champion.
Let us pray today that we will never take the easy way out by rejecting Jesus and His truth. May our Blessed Mother intercede for us all. Hail Mary full of the grace…
Peace in Christ,
