Be a Server Instead
A bruised reed he shall not break, and a smoldering wick he shall not quench, / Until he establishes justice on the earth. (Isaiah 42:3)
Isaiah speaks about the Suffering Servant who is about to be rejected, treated unjustly, beaten, and killed, but God is by his side to strengthen and protect him in time of trial and tribulation. “I am among you as the one who serves”, said Jesus. (Luke 22:27b) Whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant. (Mark 10:43) We are called to use our talents, times, and treasures to serve. Beautiful lyric of the “Servant Song” by David Haas might inspire you to step out of our own comfort zone today to be Christ for other: “Will you let me be your servant / Let me be as Christ to you / Pray that I might have the grace / To let you be my servant too / We are pilgrims on the journey / We are travellers on the road / We are here to help each other / Walk the mile and bear the load / I will hold the Christ light for you / In the night time of your fear / I will hold my hand out to you / Speak the peace you long to hear. / I will weep when you are weeping / When you laugh, I'll laugh with you / I will share your joy and sorrow / Till we've seen this journey through / Will you let me be your servant / Let me be as Christ to you / Pray that I might have the grace / To let you be my servant too.” I invite you to take time to serve other without being asked and to “THANK” those who serve you today.
Lord, may I see YOU in the face of those I serve today.
Hail Mary full of grace…
Peace in Christ,
