St. Matthias Parishioners,
Our bazaar is just over 2 weeks away on Sunday, May 5. Please pray for good weather and a fun, safe day.
The Men's Club will be cooking their tasty BBQ dinner being served from noon to 2pm. There will be a number of exciting activities for the kids, a petting zoo, many tasty food booths, live and silent auctions, Brian Loftin and Texas Reflections country band, a craft booth, Mexican Bingo, pinatas, a mechanical bull, and more. And, funnel cakes are back this year. Plan on a fun day with your family.
Here’s an update on your gifts to-date and what we are still in need of to help make this event a success:
Since the generous parishioner offered to match all gifts from our Sponsor Trees for period of Apr 1 through the bazaar, we have received $6,470 in donations. That amount, and any additional donations over the next 2 weeks, will be matched by this wonderful family. These gifts help offset the $37,000 cost to put on the bazaar.
We have received over 200, 2 liter bottles of soft drinks for our ring toss game booth. Thank You!
Thanks to all who have signed up to volunteer in a booth or other activity so far. There are still a number of open spaces available. The signup sheets will be posted after all Masses on Apr 27-28. Please sign up for a time slow to help and you’ll have a great time working with your fellow parishioners.
The first work day to start setting up booths and tent frames is Saturday, Apr 27, starting at 8am at the pavilion. Refreshments will be available. There are also some lighter tasks to be done. Work days are also planned for May 3 and May 4 (more info to follow).
Over 350 T-shirts have been sold to-date. Thank You! The remaining shirts will be available after the Masses on Apr 27-28 and at the bazaar.
The Live and Silent Auctions are still in need of donations. We are running well behind prior years. Ideas include Handmade Items or Food, Sports Memorabilia, Religious Articles, Small Appliances, Lawn equipment, Power tools, Jewelry, Kid toys, and Bicycles.
Baskets are a great way to donate (and our bazaar team will even help assemble the basket if you donate the items). Ideas include Breakfast foods, Camping, Car Care, Game Night, Grilling, Movie Night, Soup or pasta Basket, Coffee, Wine, Newborn, or a New Mother Basket.
Donations can be dropped off at the church during office hours or contact Paul or Kathy White at 281-636-5638 or 281-636-5012.
Mexican Bingo (Lotería) will be under a tent from noon to 5pm. Only a few donations for prizes have been received to-date. Please donate new items in the $10-15 range that can be used as bingo prizes.
As you work in your gardens this spring, please pot a few plants for the plant booth or buy a few extra if you find a good deal. Nurture them along and bring them to the church the week of the bazaar.
We have 11 bottles so far for the wine wheel booth. Please donate a 1-2 bottles of your favorite wine (min $8 value). We need about 50 for make this booth successful.
If you like baking, please plan on baking cakes or other desserts that can be cut up for the BBQ dinner or used as a prize in the cake wheel booth. Baked goods can be dropped off in the church youth room or office any time Friday, Saturday or Sunday of bazaar weekend.
There will be a home made craft booth this year. If you have a draft talent to share, donations are be accepted of home made items.
