Sorry about not getting this out last week!! That Silly Sally play was EXHAUSTING! Speaking of Silly Sally…didn’t the kids all do such a WONDERFUL job??? I had to fight back the tears of proudness as I watched them each assume their given role! What a great play it was!
Thank you to everyone who participated in celebrating our young children last week! I know how busy you all are and I really appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to help with the field trip and to coming to the plays. You are so awesome!!!
This week, we have been working on a couple of our class books. We’ve read “I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More” by Karen Beaumont and talked about lines and shapes and how different designs can go together to make pictures. We then used Bio Color—a special kind of kid safe paint that sticks to aluminum foil! The kids really worked hard at incorporating shapes and lines and designs into these pictures. We also read a book about dinosaurs and talked about how they have different shapes. We worked with shapes to make our own dinosaurs! Lots of learning about shapes and lines this week!
We did not have St. James Library or check out the Home Connection Library books last week so we did it this week! I also sent home a ½ page survey about the Home Connection Library. I know some of you have turned them in. If you have not, please fill it out and send it back!
READ IT AGAIN: This week we read “Bunny Cakes” by Rosemary Wells. We are learning that letters and sounds go together to make up words. In Bunny Cakes Ruby sends her little brother Max to the store to get different ingredients for her cake. She is older and can write words, Max can only make scribbles or draws pictures. This sparked a discussion about how some kids can write and some scribble. We talked about how we are each different and learning at a different pace but that we are all learning! We then decided we needed to have a grocery list in our grocery store so they can write out what they want to buy. This is a great way for kids to practice writing at whatever stage of writing they are at!
SNACK: Alex and family brought snacks the week of April 8th. They were delicious! This week, Misty and family are in charge of our snacks! When we return on April 22, Yaretzi and family will bring snacks! We love the variety of fruits, vegetables, proteins and breads that are brought!
STAR OF THE WEEK: Aden was our final Star of the Week! Aden really likes Yoshi and was so proud to show his cuddly Yoshi to the kids! He told us how he plays with it at home.
