St. Martha's Update

MORE INFO ON THE SCHOOL
   Dear Parish Family,
  We would like to give you an update on the flood recovery efforts at our school campus.
   We are grateful that our requests for help from the Archdiocese received an immediate response, even as the flood was occurring. Service Master, the restoration contractor arrived early Wednesday morning and commenced with water removal from the first floor of both classroom buildings. Carpets are being taken out, cabinets affected by the water are being removed, and wet sheet rock is being demolished. Sanitation of all surfaces is also being accomplished and will be tested by an Environmental Engineering Professional who will certify the environmental safety of our buildings.
   The restoration contractor has also brought in tractor trailer mounted desiccant dehumidifiers to extract all remaining moisture from the buildings. With the assistance of our Facilities Team, this work is proceeding well. We are also very grateful to the incredible building committee that we have at our parish.  They are very talented and experienced with projects like these and they have been instrumental in making sure all this work is done in a safe and timely manner.
    At this time, we are focused on completing the flood cleanup efforts by the end of next week, and when we can be assured that our buildings are safe and clean, we will resume school activities, which we anticipate to be the week of May 20th. We will then have a construction contractor in our buildings during the summer months to complete the restoration so that we can start the new school year as normal.
    For your own planning purposes, we will continue to provide updates to you next week. Our school children will be on the Faith Formation Campus in buildings they don't normally use, so we appreciate your understanding and cooperation in allowing them some sense of normalcy during this tough time.
