Parishes exist to help people achieve salvation, to know Jesus and his Church, and to fulfill the great commission of “making disciples of all nations.”
Why does Visitation need the upcoming Mission? How will we be better off with the mission? The right answer has something to do with what our parish does uniquely for the people who live within its boundaries, and for those who do more than merely go to Mass (as important as that is). And also as a way to bring those who don't come to Mass to the community.
Can we really communicate to you how important it is for all of us to grow together into the heavenly vision? Often, we put boundaries around our visions by accepting the limitations that we face. In today’s Church it is important to dream big and to think beyond those limitations. A great vision, combined with God’s grace, can change our parish in so many ways that we might not have even imagined.
We have a great start and we are on our way, with how our Holy Week celebrations went. But now we need to follow through with all that was begun and begin to really live that calling - something that is a life-long striving towards the Kingdom.
One of the factors that helped to make our celebrations great was the Parish Staff and volunteers coming together in unity and cohesiveness to make certain that all of the signs were “good.” We can do the same with the Mission. Not that the Mission can compare to Holy Week, but we want to make sure we don’t let this beautiful start and light be dimmed. Let's all get on the same road.
This Mission can assist us with that. Bill Wegner is a very dynamic, humorous and interesting speaker and he will give our parish something to think about. This Mission will continue the work begun and make us a more united and vibrant parish (always our intention). For a little while, put aside the cares of life and take part in the Mission. Come and be refreshed and renewed together with us. And you may find that all the other stuff somehow falls into place.
