Notes from the Lunchroom
With only a few days left for breakfast and lunch service this year, please take a moment to check your students account balance. Daily emails are sent with low balance warnings. All negative balances must be paid in full by May 31st. Fifth graders with a younger sibling at St. Matts will retain the family balance. For those fifth graders heading to Regis Middle School, any remaining balance will transfer up to Regis. For those fifth graders not attending Regis, a check will be sent to you with any remaining balance. If you have questions, please contact Kember Nelson at Knelson@stmatthewcr.org. Parents and guests, if you have not turned in your Rainbow Day lunch money, please do so. Thank you!

"God sends us friends to be our firm support in the whirlpool of struggle." -Saint Maximilian Kolbe. Thank you St. Matthew families for your love, support, and prayers as Jim faced liver surgery to eliminate colon cancer from his body. The showering of gift cards for our family was just amazing and we are humbled and so very grateful for you in our lives - an outpouring of God's love. Jim has come through this surgery like a champion and we count your firm support as one of the reasons why that has been possible. Thank you so very much!

It is now organized in the main entrance for you to take a peek as to the fun belongings that have been left behind! This year the Parent Association was provided a check for $4,042 from Hy-Vee! This is thanks to all of you for turning in your Hy-Vee receipts throughout the year. Also a huge THANK YOU to Greg and Patty Freeman for tallying the totals for us before submitting the receipts. St. Matthew placed #2 out of 93 schools in the amount we earned! I don't know about you, but hearing that just means we have a goal to achieve for next year...can we shoot for 1st place?!?! Every little bit helps so thank you for turning in your receipts! Save them all summer long and turn them in when school starts back up in the fall. Tell your family and friends in the Cedar Rapids area to save them for us as well!

- Monday, May 27th - Memorial Day, No School
- Tuesday, May 28th and Wednesday, May 29th - Normal school days and dress code
- Thursday, May 30th - Dress down day, students will be having a move-it-up day, cleaning out lockers, spaces, etc.
- Friday, May 31st - Mass at 8:35AM and Awards Ceremony to follow at church. Students will return to the classroom to get their report cards with dismissal to follow at approximately 10:00-10:30AM.
Mrs. Van Erdewyk still has room for Ukulele Campers
Mrs. Tammy Van Erdewyk will be offering a Summer Ukulele Camp. This camp is for the new ukulele player and is for 'beginners' fun! We will cover: how to hold and strum a ukulele, all the basics of tuning, fun chords to play along with fun sing along songs, and even some ways to play along with other instruments. This fun group will meet for one hour, every Tuesday for 6 weeks. The cost is $100 for 6 sessions and will cover materials, including a ukulele, a “gig” bag, tuner, and an instruction book. Sessions will meet June 11th, June 18th, and June 25th, July 9th, July 16th, and July 23rd.
If there is interest Mrs. Van Erdewyk would love to open a camping time for players that have played or taken lessons previously. To sign up for show your interest, please contact Mrs. Van Erdewyk at tvanerdewyk@stmatthewcr.org

The LaSalle-Regis-Xavier Alumni Association Board invites all LaSalle, Regis and Xavier alumni (and family) to join us for our second annual Alumni Bike Ride on June 8th! Alumni Bike Ride
Route/Schedule:
Everyone is invited to stick around at the Sag Wagon after the finish of the ride to catch up with fellow alumni. ALUMNI - Remember to wear your old school LaSalle, Regis, and Xavier gear for the ride if you have it! This ride is entirely free (there will be a free-will offering to support the Alumni Association). We hope to see you riding with us on June 8th! Family is welcome!

The Xavier Booster Club will once again hold its annual Golf Outing at beautiful Elmcrest Country Club on Monday, June 24th! Sign up now for morning or afternoon shotgun (spots will go fast!).

With the upcoming replacement of the historic wooden bleachers in the Regis Middle School gymnasium, and in an effort to preserve a part of that history, Regis has enlisted the help of Kory Helgens of Spring Run Designs in Marion, to create some beautiful memorabilia pieces from the wood. He has crafted a cross, spoon, cheese board and canoe paddle. If you attended the Royal T Night fundraiser, you got a sneak preview of them; if not, they are available in the Regis Main Office if you’d like to see them. We are taking pre-orders through May 3rd for anyone interested. You may access the Google Form found HERE to see pictures, get pricing information and let us know what you'd like to purchase. Thank you for all of your support this school year, it has been honor and pleasure to get to know all of you and spend my days with your child(ren).

Jaguar Families: The Essentials team feels blessed to have worked with your students all year long. We encourage you to continue to look for and participate in Art, Music, and PE throughout the summer. Summer is a wonderful time to try something new.
