Day 6: Thy Kingdom Come
Look...and be curious
Take a moment to see where you are. What do you see? What do you hear? Where is God at this very moment?
Wait... with prayerful expectation
Invite God to come with the simple prayer: Come Holy Spirit, Thy Kingdom Come
Read...the text with an open mind
You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.
Matthew 5:43-45
Listen... for a word with a willing heart
Listen for where God is speaking to you in this reading.
Respond... with prayer and action
O God, who in Jesus gave us an example of how to embrace pain and opposition, as we enjoy both sun and rain from our common humanity help us to pray intently for the redeeming and blessing of our blue and green planet.
(Recall the five people who you have decided to pray for over the next 11 days.)
Give them the peace they need.
Give them the grace they need.
Give them the strength they need.
Give them the healing they need.
Give them the love they need.
Give them Jesus.
Amen.
