Day 10: Thy Kingdom Come
Look...and be curious
Take a moment to see where you are. What do you see? What do you hear? Where is God at this very moment?
Wait... with prayerful expectation
Invite God to come with the simple prayer: Come Holy Spirit, Thy Kingdom Come
Read...the text with an open mind
And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. ‘When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Matthew 6:5-8
Listen... for a word with a willing heart
Listen for where God is speaking to you in this reading.
Respond... with prayer and action
O God of peace, in the quiet room and the few words, you know the deep needs of our hearts and the ache of our longing. In the silence sit with us until we know we are heard and can confidently make our reply.
(Recall the five people who you have decided to pray for over the next 11 days.)
Give them the peace they need.
Give them the grace they need.
Give them the strength they need.
Give them the healing they need.
Give them the love they need.
Give them Jesus.
Amen.
