~~ OFFICIAL HOLY CROSS PARISH COMMUNICATION
Holy Cross Family,
This morning at 9AM Mass, we had a great worship service. Father Tim made a special appearance. Below is his Homily along with a video of it.
Spirit, Our Children's Choir, was very inspirational along with James Vaughn. See video's below.
In the Gospel of today we find the interesting comment of the twelve Apostles that the large crowd was too big for them to handle and they wanted to send them away to buy food at a local town (or maybe to just get back home!)Jesus, had been curing illnesses all night, told them to sit down in groups of 50 and to wait instructions from him True to the prophecy of Isaiah 55, Jesus fulfilled the prophecy : "All you are thirsty, come the water, Come buy wine and milk without cost. Only listen to me and you will eat well."
We have just heard that all turned out very well with plenty of left-overs. I think that same dynamic is a good one for Holy Cross. We need to have confidence in God's Goodness. We need to have small groups where we can sit down and get to make plans and know one another. We need all young adults to help make us actively.
In years past we have been a welcoming church for immigrants and those in need, We have opportunities now to join the efforts of the city of Dallas to heed the call of the Office For Welcoming Communities and Immigrant Affairs. We have classes where we can learn and teach each other another language. We have called on our young adults to give the whole parish various tasks which will bring new life to all.
We have to congratulate our own Co-Valedictorian from Bishop Dunne Catholic School, Mariah Burdette. She has been a leader there for many years in getting food for the needy and in supporting conservation efforts.
The apostles were only successful when they let go of their own ideas and begin to obey Jesus. St. Paul tells the Church at Corinth that they have the Eucharistic task of proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he comes!.
Take one minute now to ask yourself what is one thing you can do today to strengthen the power of God's presence within you.
