It took strong conviction and courage to sit in the steamy room of Independence Hall, in Philadelphia, that summer of 1776, and make a declaration to King George III that these united colonies were to be free and independent. As Ben Franklin has been noted to say, "We hang together, or we most assuredly will hang separate." There formal declaration of an independent nation was completed July 3rd (today), and officially signed by members of the Continental Congress in August of 1776. Every one of the men knew they were signing their death warrant if the Americans lost to Britain, as their act was seen as treason, and death was the outcome for all in defeat.
I wonder today what we would be willing to put our life on the line to stand for?
For all who declared, and have defended, our freedom, thank you...

KSCS Capital Campaign and Building Renovation Update:
First, we have determined to move forward with the school building renovation first, knowing we can pay cash for this portion, and need to be completed as soon as possible for the TCU reading program to use our facilities, and to be ready for school to begin. We will then move over to the church to do the work needed to provide a classroom space for lower grades, and the library as well for the school. When both of these projects are completed, we will join them together with the breezeway. By structuring the project in this manner, we keep under the triggers that would cost us much in the way of time and financial resources to update to current ADA standards, that trigger being renovations over $50,000. We feel our current school and church meets the previous criteria, and services our congregation well, and there is not reason to update ADA to current codes.
We have begun soliciting bids on the work to be performed, and Greg Peck and I are working together to make sure the bids make sense, take into consideration the work we want done, and all is done with excellence, while saving us money.
Second, at this time we will not pursue the refinance of the loan, which had been tabled at our last business meeting. We will move forward, planing carefully, and paying cash for what we can along the way. This should put many of the individuals at ease who had legitimate concerns we were not planning carefully enough, and taking multiple things into consideration. At another date in the future, when more facts and figures, pertaining to site work and building drawings, has been obtained, the leadership will convene a business meeting to discuss refinance options.

We have met the match!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, we were given a $25,000 match challenge, and this past Monday we met it! It doesn't mean we stop, as there is another $125,000 to raise for KSCS, and we welcome your gift, or pledge, to see the project come through to make our school stronger, and our church too. The renovations being completed will be a blessing to our church and school, giving usable space to both.
If you would like to give, please do so online, or via the tithe envelope, marking your gift "KSCS Campaign". If you would like to pledge, please grab one of the small forms at the church, and mark it accordingly, giving to myself, the Clare, or the offering plate on Sabbath. Your pledge, if unable to give in full now, will help us budget and plan moving forward, and measure our expenses with income for the renovations.
