Divine Word Missionaries Here this Weekend
Fr. Mark Weber, SVD will be with us this weekend, July 13-14 to speak about the many ministries of his religious community the Divine Word Missionaries. They are an international religious community of missionary priests and Brothers serving in 80 countries helping to build chapels, celebrate the sacraments, and spread the Word of God in the remote mission communities. Fr. Mark spent 7 years in their west Africa Province in Ghana. He will share stories about what he has learned about the economic, political and social structures of our world which impact people no matter how hard they may work. His missionary work has led him to conclude that “wherever we are, we need to work for a better world.” Over 6,000 active missionaries travel to the far corners of the world building hospitals to care for the sick, educating the poor, teaching the hungry to farm, and providing life's necessities like drinkable water, food, and shelter. Please be generous in the second collection to help support the missionary work of the Divine Word Missionaries. Their missionaries serve in many of the most difficult areas of the world.
