Pro-life Witness
Many of you may know the 40-Days for Life campaign (one of the campaigns Ithaca 40-Days for Life does is during Lent-including prayer and fasting to bring a culture of life, community outreach, etc.). Ithaca Loves Life is continuing the work of helping our neighbors know resources and alternatives, ending abortion in our city, and raise awareness of the harm of abortion. Ithaca Loves Life launched its first Monthly Prayer Vigil last month, and will continue to gather every 4th Saturday of the month from 9-10:30 am to offer information to the abortion-minded, and be a prayerful witness to ending abortion in our area. It is a prayerful and peaceful vigil, not a protest. The next vigil will be Saturday July 27 from 9-10:30 am across the street from Planned Parenthood on Seneca St., Ithaca. Contact Mary Anne Tissot (315-246-4749) or Carolann Darling (607-351-6668) with any questions. Email Abrey (aaf87) if you need a ride.
Prayer for your day- by Blessed John Henry Newman (to be canonized Oct 13th!)
Most Sacred, most loving Heart of Jesus, you are concealed in the Holy Eucharist, and you beat for us still.
Now, as then, you say: “With desire I have desired.”
I worship you with all my best love and awe, with fervent affection, with my most subdued, most resolved will.
For a while you take up your abode within me.
O make my heart beat with your Heart!
Purify it of all that is earthly, all that is proud and sensual, of all perversity, of all disorder, of all deadness.
So fill it with you, that neither the events of the day, nor the circumstances of the time, may have power to ruffle it, but that in your love and your fear, my heart may have peace.
Amen.
