Parish Weekly Update -- August 14, 2019
Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph:
I hope everyone has had a great week so far. Here are a few things going on in the near future here at St. Joseph.
1. TOMORROW -- is a Holy Day of Obligation, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There are three opportunities to fulfill that obligation tomorrow here at St. Joseph. Masses are at 7am, 12:05pm, and 7pm. If you need a confession, I will be in the confessional around 11:15am. If that doesn't work, please feel free to make an appointment with me by email (frjason@stjosephstarkville.org) or with any of the other area priests -- Fr. Binh Nguyen in West Point or Fr. Jeffrey Waldrep in Columbus.
2. Ladies Luncheon -- To honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, the ladies of the parish have decided to have their monthly luncheon tomorrow after the noon Mass. All ladies of the parish are invited. Please bring a covered dish and join everyone after Mass at ~12:30pm.
3. Family Picnic - From Grand Knight Richard Coughlin: The parish/Knights of Columbus family picnic is this Saturday, August 17th. We will meet at the Starkville SportsPlex Soccer Field Pavilion (newer, bigger, cleaner). To beat the heat we will start serving at 11:30am-ish. (Serving burgers and hot dogs, chips, drinks, and watermelon.) So come out for some fun, food, and fellowship
4. Handicap parking -- I am told this work is going to begin at the beginning of next week.
5. Sign out front -- We are moving forward with this project very quickly and in the next couple of months you will begin to see some progress. Thank you very much to our parishioner, Joe Webb, and the Century Group from Sulphur, LA. In the meantime, you will see some banners in our front yard to help indicate our location for new students and anyone else looking for the church.
6. Sunday Evening Mass -- The 5:30pm Mass begins this coming Sunday August 18, 2019. As school starts back and we mark the end of the summer, we welcome a new year and all of our new students.
See you all tomorrow at Mass.
Peace,
Fr. Jason
