Hello SFDS Families,
Here we are, starting a new amazing school year. Welcome to our new families. We truly love this place and so will you! Our overarching theme this year is Encountering Christ Together. We invite our students to encounter Christ and we invite all our families to do the same. Join us on this wonderful journey of Faith. Christ is present in our school!
Upon your return, you will see many changes!! All great changes!!! These renovations were made possible by generous donors, hard-working people in our contractors and designers, and our very own people. I want to thank Shannon Karrenbauer, our Business Manager who work extremely hard throughout the summer making sure our projects were on target. I also want to thank Mid-Ohio and all the contractors and designers who were part of this. Finally, a shout out to Donny Riggleman and his staff for the clean-up. THANK YOU TO ALL.
Our new kitchen is incredible, the first week we will be learning how the kitchen works and helping children with the new procedures. We ask that you pack lunches for your children on August 21st and August 22nd. We will have catered lunch on August 23rd. The kitchen will be “full go” on Monday, August 26th. We have a beautiful area for the children to eat their lunches. GOD IS GOOD!
I want to praise our Kindergarten teachers who waited patiently to move into their rooms until the last moment. Our teachers work on their rooms for days and often weeks and I asked Diane Roddy and Taylor Johnson to move with a few days. Thank you, families, for understanding about the late start for Kindergarten. We wanted everything to be just perfect.
We welcome some new staff members. Please help me welcome Teresa Pishner to our front office. Teresa is Natalie’s mom in 8th grade. She comes to SFDS with great experience and a true love for our school. She is recruiting volunteers to be part of our office during the school day. Please email Teresa if you are interested in volunteering during the school day. Teresa will assist our teachers and staff with Administrative responsibilities.
We ask that all families sign up for flocknotes (school and parish) and of course, SchoolSpeak. Flocknotes will be sent out every Monday and Thursday with important announcements. Our teachers will communicate with you through SchoolSpeak.
PTA has purchased one pair of gym shorts for each student in the school (3rd grade – 8th grade). You will be able to order more if you want. Order forms will be going home in the first week of school. Students will get their “Free” pair on their first Gym class day.
If your child is participating in a fall sport for the 2019-2020 season, please read the following to understand how to pay for participation fees, pickup candy bars and read other highlights.
Participation Fees
:We are going to be collecting participation fees (including candy bar fee) for fall sports at this years’ St. Francis de Sales Parish festival this upcoming Saturday, August 17th from 2-6 PM. The fee for this year $160 (no increase from 2018). $100 for the yearly participation fee (covers all sports) and $60 for candy bars. *Please make checks payable to NCJHAA.
This will be the only organized time which you will be able to drop off fees.
