Blood Pressure Remedy
I gave you a land that you had not tilled and cities that you had not built, to dwell in; you have eaten of vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant. Now, therefore, fear the LORD and serve him completely and sincerely. Cast out the gods your ancestors served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:13-14)
There is a saying that goes: “Repetition is the mother of learning.” Many teachers tell students, who complain that they have heard all about the subject before, that it won't hurt them to hear it again. Joshua, as a teacher of the people, decided that it would not hurt them to hear again the story of God's marvelous deeds on their behalf. And it does not hurt us either. All of God's actions throughout history manifest his wisdom and his love. That is a subject we must never grow weary of. Having a habit of counting your blessings forces us to look at our lives in a positive way, from God’s perspective rather than our own limited view. The Providence Health and Services blog lists five benefits that studies have shown gratitude practice can deliver: • More happiness • More fulfilling relationships, including marriages • Increased productivity at work • Increased self-esteem and resilience to challenges • Better physical health, including fewer doctor’s visits, lower blood pressure and decreased pain. Here are a number of exercises to tone your gratitude muscles: • Write thank-you notes • Share your gratefulness with others • Keep a gratitude journal • Count your blessings!!! • Meditate on gratitude.
Let’s be honest about it. You can’t be grateful enough; God has given us everything! Name 3 things that you are most thankful for and share them with the person next to you today.
"Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his love endures forever." Ps. 118:29
