Parish Weekly Update -- August 24, 2019
Dear Parishioners of St Joseph:
I hope everyone has had a great beginning of the school year so far and the beginning of a great weekend. Here are a few things going on.
1. Time and Talent! -- This weekend will be the beginning of our Time and Talent. There are forms in all of the pews. Please indicate on the form the ministries you and your family may want to be involved in this upcoming year. Then return them to the basket in the back of the Church. We are especially in need of liturgical ministers. This year we will have different training and update sessions for the different ministries. There will be two opportunities for each ministry.
Lectors --
Sunday, September 8 @ 3pm
or
Tuesday, September 17 @ 6pm
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion --
Tuesday, September 10 @ 6pm
or
Sunday, September 15 @ 3pm
Ushers --
Sunday, September 8 @ 4pm
or
Wednesday, September 18 @ 6pm
Altar Servers --
Wednesday, September 11 @ 3pm
or
Sunday, September 15 @ 4pm
2. Finance Council -- We had a Finance Council meeting on Wednesday evening and we discussed several things: Details on a few of the projects we have going on around here, possible new finance council members, rekeying the facilities, policies and procedures for help cases in the parish. You will probably see a few notes soon.
3. Parish Pastoral Council -- The Parish Pastoral Council was scheduled to meet on Thursday, but I had a funeral in Birmingham for a classmate from seminary, so I got back late and we had to cancel. We also had several key members who couldn't make it that evening either. We will reschedule and reconvene soon.
4. Mercy -- When we did our parish envisioning in January we established Mercy as a pastoral priority. I have had a lot of requests for opportunities for a Confession time on the weekend. Since we have begun the 5:30 Mass, we will have confession beginning at 4:30 on Sunday evening from now until next Summer as long as there is a 5:30 Mass.
5. Handicap Parking -- The work on the handicap parking has begun so there may be some inconvenience this weekend. The two spots next to the entrance of the church have been torn out. Hopefully, by next weekend, we'll be up and running with 5 new spots and a space for a van.
Peace,
Fr. Jason
