Since today is Labor Day, it is always a good thing to remember that it is more than just a day off and more than the end of Summer.
Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. The celebration grew out of long struggles to establish the rights of workers, particularly through labor unions. The Catholic Church stood by workers during these struggles and continues to advocate for them today.
