OLL News: Habitat, Open your Heart & Bishop Barron
We Missed the Bulletin
but there will be an Adult Faith Formation class this Sunday, October 27 at 1015am in the Bernadette Center! The video presentation is by Bishop Robert Barron. The program is titled "David the King". Its about leadership and our roles in the Church.
It is a six-week program and it is very, very appropriate for this time in our Church! No registration needed. Just drop in for a reassuring, faith-filled hour!
Habitat for Humanity's
goal is a world where everyone has a decent place to live, in homes that provide the strength, stability and independence that families need.
Habitat for Humanity is a partnership, not a giveaway program—Habitat’s homeowner families buy the houses that Habitat builds or renovates. Habitat homeowners also invest hundreds of hours of their own labor working alongside volunteers. As a result, Habitat for Humanity houses are affordable to low-income families around the world. In fiscal year 2017, Habitat directly helped 3.5 million people secure decent, affordable housing.
Led by Chris and Barbara Quinby, a number of OLL parishioners are regular volunteers. On 1Day4Him a team of OLL parishioners joined them and provided lunch at the current Raleigh home construction site. Joelle Roehrl provided the following photos and article.
“It was a great day for God's work to be done. It was wonderful to see the community come together to help build this family's new home. Workers were so grateful for the wonderful food and water provided for them, even Raleigh police stopped to have lunch with us.”
OPENING YOUR HEART
is certainly an interesting name for a women's program. Judging from the attendance and comments I've heard, it is definitely living up to it's promise.
Led by Joan Rose Brown and others, it is a foundational Bible study for women who seek a closer relationship with the Lord through Scripture, reflection and discussion.
