Today was day 10 of school and we are doing very well! Our latest schedule is working out well! (It is attached!) We have moved a few things in our schedule around and are adjusting nicely! We are challenging ourselves by finding words that have more than 4 syllables! We even found a word that has 6 syllables! It may be a made up word but that is ok! The word is "superdedooperdee!" I my dictionary, that means really, really good or awesome! This is something that can be done at home! Find a word and have your kiddo show you how many syllables that word has! We have been working on number and letter recognition and review! Specials are going great!
PBIS: This stands for Positive Behavior Intervention Supports. This system is designed to build relationships and treat others with respect, be responsible and safe! These are the 3 pillars that we are working on. We talk about what they mean, we practice how to be respectful, responsible and safe and how those things can look different depending on where we are! Tickets are given when the kids are responsible, respectful and safe. At the end of the month, the tickets are tallied and they can earn rewards for them.We also earn whole class tickets when the whole class is showing how to be respectful, responsible or safe! The kiddos are doing great (as always) and they are learning the system. I do not give tickets every time they are showing one of the 3 attributes but when they go above and beyond. This is an ever-evolving process!
FALL FEST: Next Sunday, September 8th is the St. James Fall Festival! There is always a great meal followed by an auction of some really cool items! As in the past, each classroom will have a piece to be auctioned off. In your Friday Folder, there is a sheet saying when the items will be auctioned. We sure hope to see everyone at Fall Fest. It is such a fun event. It’s always great to catch up to people that you may not have seen for awhile & it benefits a great school!
SNACK:This week, Christine was our snack person! The fresh mandarine oranges were a hit! It’s always nice to have fresh fruit! Next week, Laken will be our snack person!
WATERBOTTLES: Thank you for sending water bottles! The kids are getting back into the routines of using them and think it’s pretty cool to be able to fill them at the drinking fountains! They will be coming home today so please make sure to give them a good cleaning and send them back on Monday!
FRIDAY FOLDERS: The Friday Folders are going home today! Please make sure you take a look at what’s inside! You can keep the stuff that is on the “Keep at home” side. If there is anything on the “Please return to school” side, please take care of whatever it is and return it to school!
EXTRA, EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT: There are a couple of great way that you can support St. James school and really not do a whole lot extra!
The first way is to turn in your Hy-Vee receipts! Hy-Vee gives us $1000.00 for every $150,000 of receipts turned into the school! The receipts can only be from the Washington Hy-Vee or Gas Station. Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits or any receipts from another Hy-Vee does not count. Also, prescriptions, alcohol, dry cleaning and stamps do not count. If your receipt has that stuff on it along with groceries, go ahead and turn them in! We will sort it out later!
Also, Box Tops for Education is a great way to support our school! This year, our goal is to raise $500.00. You can clip or now scan box tops with their new mobile app. Download the app from Google play or the App Store or continue to clip away!
Thanks for all you do to help St. James.
Have a great weekend!
