Our Family Festival is this Weekend!
In just a few days, our ordinary parking lot will transform into THE place to be in Shrewsbury. This joyful yearly event brings our parish family together in hard work and friendship and one that benefits both our parish and parish school. Our festival committee works very hard to plan and host one of the best and biggest festivals in our community. But how do they do it? One huge way is from the generous gift of time and effort from our parishioners, school families, and religious education students and community.
We create short shifts (about 2 1/2 hours each) with the hope that they will better fit into the busy schedules we all have...but shorter shifts mean a greater number of shifts in order to staff the entire weekend. We are in great need for many more volunteers to help out this weekend and we are hoping that we can pull together as a parish family to fill these open spots! The main shifts are:
- Friday, 5:45 PM - 8:00 PM
- Friday, 7:45 PM - 10:00 PM
- Saturday, 11:45 AM - 2:15 PM
- Saturday, 2:00 PM - 4:45 PM
- Saturday, 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM
- Sunday, 11:45 AM - 2:30 PM
- Sunday, 2:15 PM - 5:00 PM
Our critical needs during the times above are for volunteers to help with the Inflatables, Games, and Children's Activities.
- Inflatable volunteers take tickets/check wristbands and monitor the children entering and exiting the inflatable for safety. It's exciting for the kids and can be a little fast-paced, but a chair can be provided so that you do not need to be on your feet the entire time. This is perfect for high-school students to adult.
- Children's Activity volunteers assist children with various crafts and activities. A complete list of crafts and activities are on our parish website here. This is perfect for grade 5 students to adult.
- Games volunteers take tickets, help children play the games, and distribute game prizes. This is a fast-paced on your feet opportunity and is perfect for grade 5 students, families who want to volunteer together, and adults.
There are several additional opportunities that are available as well, but we ask you to consider volunteering for one of the three areas above that are the biggest draw for our festival-goers.
Student volunteers can receive credit towards service hours. A generic service credit form will be available at the volunteer tent as you check-in or bring your own for us to sign.
You can find more information on the parish
