9-9-19
Many thanks to Damian's family for bringing healthy snacks all of last week! Abraham is on the snack schedule this week.
This week I will get started on our Fast Reading assessments. We will also finally get started on our first reading selection which means they will have a spelling test this Friday.
This week in Math...
The class will use tables to problem solve, find counting patterns within 100, find counting patterns within 1000 and review for our chapter 1 test. We'll take the test next week.
Reading...
We'll read "Henry and Mudge The First Book," place words in alphabetical order, write a true story, look at subjects and predicates, practice short vowel word vocabulary and word sorts.
Science and Social Studies-
The past two weeks in science we have planted our seeds and watched our Brassica plants grow extremely fast. Our class plant is over 4 inches tall and has several buds. Several students have plants larger than that. Some plants are just about ready to bloom.
Our caterpillars have gone from 2 cm to 5 cm in just 1 and a half weeks. And this morning the caterpillars were all in cocoons. We will continue to observe and write down the changes we see in our plants and cocoons. During social studies, the class will watch a short film on primary sources as we continue with our inquiry unit on our impact on the environment. They will take a look at landforms by the end of the week and where they are located in the U. S. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great week!
