Hello, Everyone!
Our week was filled with learning ...and a few firsts!
Leo Leonni's "Fish is Fish" had us wondering:
Do we all look the same?
Do we like to do the same things when it comes to food or toys?
Can we do things the same way some of our friends can?
In this story a frog & a fish find out they may look the same at first, but then frog begins to change and ...ask your child if he remembers the rest of the story!
At any rate our class decided:
Even if our hair, skin or eyes are not the same color -
Even if we don't like the same food -
Even if some of us like to play with dolls & other friends don't -
Even if some of us can climb higher or run faster -
We can all be friends!
Other stories & activities hinged around that theme:
Finger painting with a friend - (What color do you like? Do you ;like the squishy paint?)
Playing "Shoe Salad" - blindfolded friends fish for a shoe & find the friend it belongs to.
Firsts:
It was exciting to go to our school library to have Mrs. Mac read to us!
It was great to run off steam in our gym after sitting still to hear the story!
Fluoride Treatment went well also! No tears!
Speaking of which: Children are now arriving with smiles & (for the most part!) with no tears. Yeah!
This group is ready for something new next week: Show & Share!
Every Tuesday your child may bring one (1) item to school. This item can be a toy, picture, perhaps memorabilia from a vacation or event (Hawkeye shirt, sea shell etc.)
He/ she may talk about what they brought to a group of friends.
Mrs. A & I will each direct half the class in our groups. This will ensure everyone gets a turn & also that this sharing time doesn't take up too much time!
You are invited to come along
on a Fall Walk
Monday, September 23 at 10 o'clock!
Weather permitting we plan to take a walk around our school & church premises to look for signs of Fall! Extra eyes & hands are always a welcome addition on such outings! Besides, it is fun to observe children's reactions when the find /see something
that tells us: Fall is here!
In the past preschoolers would go on Ke-Wash Trail to do so. However, when I walked on the trail last week, I saw way too much Poison Ivy along it's edges. :-0
To "play it safe" we'll stay around our school to look for signs of Fall!
Be sure to check your child's back pack!
Forms that need to be filled out & returned to the office were sent home!
Please, return these at your earliest convenience!
On Thursday each child brought home information about book orders.
It would be great to have them returned by Monday! Thank you!
And thank you so much for all the tasty snacks provided this week!
Mrs. A & I are looking forward to more fun in learning with your child!
