Mardi Gras Meeting
The first Mardi Gras planning meeting is set for Monday, September 23rd at 7 pm in Kearn Hall. Any and all are welcome to join the planning of this amazing night of fellowship and fun, as well as providing financial support to the St. Matthew community.

Marion Music Academy Scholarship
Marion Music Academy is offering two six-month scholarships to all area students. We're asking students to write a short essay of 500 words or fewer expressing what music means to you and why you want to take lessons. We'll select two winners from the submitted essays, one from grades 1-5 and one from grades 6-12. This contest is open to all students whether or not they currently take music classes at the Academy. The value of the scholarships is up to $720.
You can submit your essay electronically at newstudents@marionmusicacademy.com or mail it to 940 8th Ave, Marion, IA 52302 by October 11,2019. Please include a cover page with the student’s name, parent’s name, grade level, and contact information. Thank you and we look forward to reading your essays!

Navigating Social Challenges of the Tweens & Teens in 2019
Have you worried about the social challenges surrounding your child as a pre-teen and teen in today's generation? On Wednesday, September 18th at 7 pm, Regis Middle School will host Officer Charity Hansel, a Resource Officer at Kennedy High School. Charity will be speaking on the issues of social media, cyberbullying, vaping, drugs, alcohol, and more. Charity offers a unique perspective on parenting and will provide advice and suggestions on how to best handle these challenging topics in today's generation. This a must-see presentation for ALL parents. Come and join us for this PARENT ONLY event.

XHS Girls' Basketball's "Boosketball Camp"
Girls in Grades K-4 are invited to join the XHS Girls’ Basketball team for some Halloween hoops, skills, fun & treats while playing basketball on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019 from 9-10:30 a.m. at Xavier High School! Cost for this camp is $30 and includes a t-shirt.

Iowa-Illinois Football Ticket Raffle
The LaSalle-Regis-Xavier Alumni Association is raffling off two tickets to the Nov. 23rd Iowa-Illinois football game at Kinnick Stadium. Raffle tickets are $5 each OR five for $20. Stop by the Alumni Booth at a home football game OR stop at the Foundation office to get your tickets!

Message from the Principal
Happy Short Week of School!
Thank you all for your flexibility, prayers and thoughts while I was away this week. You are always in good hands with such an amazing staff, which makes my absences away from school easy. Life will return to normal this week and for that I am very thankful.
Just a reminder that WIN time will start on Monday. We will provide updated communication on this in next weeks Jaguar Journal, stay tuned to the amazing work that will be happening during this time.

Essentials Team Highlight
All kids have the potential to be artistic, musical, and athletic if they continue to practice the skills and keep trying! For example, kids can draw on the sidewalk, use scissors, sing in the car, use body percussion, get outside and move, or take a walk to practice and reinforce the skills we work on in class.
